So seeing as I should make a choice from the current crop, then it would be a BL with Sol type accomod. Which is like still a Sol. but with latest style/techniques?

The windward hull would be simpler to build than the Sol ones already built. 


I would then go with normal cruising:   Schooner sails. Rectangular cross beams. Just 6m not 8m overall beam. Outboard on hinge. Swing up rudders. Lengthened to 15m lw, but can I keep same cross section size (so not too skinny for strength?).

No problem.  Round beams are now easier to build than square ones. 


Hopefully this would be relatively cheap, round Oz boat.

Was wondering today:  for ease of build and transport, if you did the lw hull in 2 7.5m lengths that shouldn't be too hard to join permanently once at the boatyard/launching site.

Could do.  Much easier if the lee hull has an access hatch you can fit through.   

Some logistics about transport, launching and mooring are not as easy with such long and wide boats. Especially mooring.

And Rob, do you mean you put the beam under the car and levered it up, with a jack? You didn't break the brand new beam i hope!

Lifted the car with the beam.  No damage.  Assembled the mast today.  Top section has a little bit of play, which needs fixing, but otherwise very stiff.  Supported at the ends 16.5m apart and my 80 kgs in the middle, it deflected about 300mm.   Putting the tillers, extensions and carbon universal jonts together tomorrow.
