I would never have considered using wood (the original composite material).
My problem with these sleeve type solutions is that they are primarily designed with a steel shaft in mind.
I am concerned about the softness of an epoxy fiber shaft rotating in them and the resulting 'debris'.
I am trying to determine if a two sleeve option might not be better, but it seems highly dependent on the materials, many of them like to "mate". Maybe using two different kinds of materials in the sleeves?
