Arto - "What kind of accommodation is it you need? Extra cabin? Bigger saloon? Different layout? Something else? If I needed extra cabin I would go with schooner rig and flare the lee hull between the beams to make room for the extra cabin. Bigger saloon... doable if may be not advisable. Different layout or something else... let us hear what you need."
What I need is ease and convenience. Like windows that open with screens, that don't leak. A place to step on the hull and place groceries and bags from the dinghy and steps to climb up. A ladder is a hassle when trying to carry jerry cans. A protected helm position, 50 knot wind and spray in my face is not pleasant, nor is a tropical sun beating down on me.
I want to be able to press a button and watch the anchor come up, so I can change my anchorage a little. It needs to be easy enough that my wife will do it : ) And I need to be able to adjust the system to change the angle of the boat to the wind waves and current.
An engine system that will push me through an inlet when the wind and the waves are against me, along with an autopilot that I can rely on. I took a poll among my fellow cruisers and the one item we can't live without is an autopilot.
Just little things like that : )
